In a Buffalo News article titled, "The aging crisis" on the front page of this Sunday's edition the many challenges of caring for the elderly were described. http://www.buffalonews.com/home/story/395511.html
One of the challenges that struck me is the concern that older people do not have the reserves to fight back assaults to their system's when they are stressed. "It takes less and less of an insult to push them over the edge," according to Dr. Robert Stall, a private geriatrician. With better technologies available for improving indoor air quality, there is an opportunity to reduce the airborne insults that may result in a downward spiraling situation. Managing indoor environments to reduce levels of particles, chemicals and biological pollutants (e.g. molds & viruses) can result in reducing risk to elderly patients. For example, air quality assessment tools and air purification devices (with FDA Class II Medical Device rating) can provide a proven level of efficacy to satisfy patients, their doctors, and family members.
